Right from her first encounter with basic yoga asanas at a very young age from Vivekananda Kendra, Ujwala became attached to yoga.
Over the years she continued practicing yoga as she felt its positive effects on the body and mind . Interest in the Philosophy of Yoga and the History of Yoga led her to gain deeper knowledge about Yoga. She believes in Yoga as a way of life . Apart from being a qualified engineer, she is also a certified International Hatha Yoga teacher(RYT 200) and has also completed her Yoga Instructor Course from SVYASA Bangalore.
Through her studio THE YOGA PLACE , Ujwala’s goal is to not only bring about positive transformations in the lives of her students through yoga practice but also share the gift of yoga with her students !!!
Monika has been practicing yoga since childhood and her father is her first yoga teacher. She is a software engineer by education and has worked in software industry for a few years. She strongly feels that yoga is her calling and the more she does her personal sadhana (self practice) and Svadhyaya (self learning) the more she is in love with yoga. Teaching yoga for her is not just a career but is to give the best of her yoga knowledge and experience to her students and make tangible and positive difference in their physical, mental and emotional well being.
Outdoors and physical activities is what she connected with than computer games or TV programmes, right from childhood. Her enthusiasm towards fitness and her belief of awareness in the moment, brought her on this path. She always believed in the mind body synergy and placed life and ‘quality living’ over everything else. As philosophy of yoga is that of true living, this was what she wanted to live and spread. She is grateful that 'yoga' happened before she wasted any years trying to 'fit-into' corporate shoes or any other sandals. Barefoot on mat it is, that feels closest to heart. She is also a qualified mountaineer.
